Crested Gecko Care Parameters

The short answer

Day 72–80°F (22–27°C), night 65–72°F (18–22°C), humidity 50–70% cycling between mistings, in a vertical enclosure of at least 18×18×24 inches and 18×18×36 inches as the recommendation. Feed a powdered diet every other day and live insects once or twice a week. No extra heat is needed at normal room temperatures.

Use this page as the reference for every other crested gecko page on this site. If a number on another page differs from this table, this table is the one to follow. Humidity is the value most often misread: it is a cycle — a peak after misting and a fall before the next misting — not a single level to hold all day.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature should a crested gecko enclosure be?

72–80°F (22–27°C) by day and 65–72°F (18–22°C) at night, measured where the animal rests, including the upper levels. Temperatures above the day range are the risk to watch for.

How humid should a crested gecko enclosure be?

50–70%, rising after misting and falling between mistings. The fall matters as much as the peak — the enclosure must be able to dry back, with ventilation, between mistings.

How often should I feed a crested gecko?

Powdered diet every other day, with live insects once or twice a week as a supplement. Offer the diet fresh, in an elevated dish, and check for feeding marks the next morning.
