Information you send us
If you contact us through the Contact page, we receive the information you include in the form — your name, email address, and message. We use it only to reply to your message and to check any correction you send. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use contact-form messages for advertising.
Analytics
When analytics is enabled, this site will use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the guides are used — for example, which pages are visited and how visitors arrive. GA4 will collect information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information, and how long pages are viewed. The configuration and retention settings will be explained before analytics is enabled. You will be able to opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on provided by Google for your browser. Analytics is not enabled at launch; this section is published now so the position is stated before analytics begins.
Cookies
When analytics or advertising is enabled, this site will use cookies — small files stored on your device. Cookies used for analytics will help show which guides are useful. Cookies used for advertising will help show ads that are relevant and limit how often the same ad is shown. You can control cookies in your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; blocking cookies may change how some parts of the site behave. A consent mechanism will be in place before any non-essential cookie is set.
Advertising
Advertising on this site will use Google AdSense, once advertising is enabled. When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, will use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to visitors based on their visit to this site and other sites on the internet. Visitors may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. This site links to external sources, including the reference sources listed on the parameter pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy does not cover them. Follow the link and read the destination site’s policy before sharing information there. Photograph authorship and licence details are recorded in the photo licence ledger retained with the site build, rather than in reader-facing captions.
Children
This site is a general care-guide site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Contact page. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us through the Contact page and we will remove it.
How long information is kept
Information sent through the Contact page will be kept only as long as needed to reply to the message and to check any correction sent, and will then be deleted. Analytics reports, when analytics is enabled, will be used in aggregate form and will not identify individual visitors.
Your rights
Visitors in the UK and the EU may ask for a copy of, or the deletion of, information they have sent through the Contact page, and may object to its use for replying to them. Visitors in the US may make the same request through the Contact page, and applicable state privacy laws will be followed where they apply. Requests will be answered through the Contact page.
